The Tragedy

I’m not very clear about what happened yesterday. The various reports were vague. The one thing that was very blatantly true was that the Party Monarch went on as normal and Bajan seem to find nothing wrong with this. Why during a tragedy involving the hundreds of family members, maybe even thousand of family and friends that we don’t see the need to put off national shows but if it rained, then we would have given into nature’s wrath. The real tragedy here is that our people can’t seem to prioritize they concerns for each other. How can we in one breath celebrate the success of this show, while expressing sympathy for the casualties yesterday? These same entertainers lost fans, and fans are their livelihood. Is remorse to be counted in money, convenience and time?

The Tragedy

Calls came in yesterday with really bad news

Road accident left many listeners confused

All they heard was there were three causalities

So little to give the families ease

Hours seemed past before ambulances came

And more hours again at the A&E waiting

The news didn’t stop the Party Monarch plans

Had performers singing to the adoring fans

Our priorities seemed very strange to me

Revealing an underlying tragedy

Show biz folks say the “show must go on”

Entertainers treated the tragedy like long gone

How come they would have stopped if it had rained

I thought too we were prepared since CWC was retained

Lots of issues but this one can’t be denied

Last news reported 35 injured 10 serious and 6 died
