The Fight For Glory

My sister shared the story of one of the calypsos she heard from the semifinals this year. The story reminded me of the “Devil went down to Georgia” by the Charlie Daniels Band. That was one of the best played violin song I knew as a youngster and the story was very captivating. Anything that vaguely reminds me of this childhood favorite is bliss. I recall her story

The Fight For Glory

The people got together and were betting

Had wages on which fighter would win

Every bet seemed placed on the same man

For sure the scrawny contender would lose to Satan

It reflects what we see in our society

Goodness losing over to iniquity

How ever hard we worship and pray

The world seems more chaotic and in more moral decay

Families separated, thinking selfishly

Our neighborhoods have people who never agree

Rage on the roads spreading in the work place

God’s people observing wrongs and turning their face

Lots of people lost on that battle, that night

One person though predicted the fight

Reactions flared when Satan was seen collecting

Yelling “How could he have known that Jesus would win?”
