Part Time Love

We take so much for granted in love. We expect that love would survive everything we dish out at it.  When I see what some people go through waiting for their spouses to return from duties abroad, like in the war. These circumstances can change relationship from romantic to lustful craves for each other and the result is a diminishing respect for love.

Part Time Love

People will marry

And then later learn

Romance must tarry

Till from tour they return

Tours of uniformed duty

In jobs far away

Military spouses see the cruelty

Experiencing love like a holiday

Lovers briefly united

On a few days every year

Very lonesome yet excited

Each visit more and more like an affair
