Just Yesterday

So adorable, so noisy, so sweet. It’s a pleasure to raise new life, no matter the kind. I remember watching young tadpoles grow. It was my first window into the transformation that life takes and an early example to change. I learnt the importance of enjoying what you have , when you have it, always cognizant that one day you wouldn’t and then you’ll need learn to make do. This early lesson has been with me all my life and has served me effectively, always. Life is frail and so precious. Don’t cling too tightly, rather be gentle and you will find, things are more rewarding and enjoyable when we savor them. There is a greater message in the frailness of life than we sometimes take the time to notice.

Just Yesterday

Joy came when I saw them nursing

Unable to see or walk, just crawling

So small and frail and adorably sweet

They brought new life and a special treat

Young mother soon started their discipline

Ears got snarled and I heard lots of crying

She took breaks from them when her teats got sore

They’d rush her like young piglets boar

Each little mutt got its own identity

Running wild, exploring, living care free

Disease came silently and knocked at the door

And now there is no frolicking like before

Yesterday I prayed and did all that I must

My little babies caught the Parvo Virus
