Vicious and Cruel - Dog Fighting

We are presumed innocent until proven guilty. This is a farce. The trouble with this is that too many innocent people are unshielded from this supposed presumption and are still dragged through the ordeal of being socially stripped of any respectability they may have worked so hard for, while criminals are paraded in their finest in front of cameras and all over newspapers. Then, depending on the skills of the lawyers or the incompetence of the legal system, the innocent may be jailed and the guilty go free. There is also the presumption of what is legal and what is not as laid out by our forefathers who themselves lived in barbaric times. How could these old, almost ancient laws govern a more moral society? How many of us know of people who are involved in dog fighting and its just calmly dismissed as just another sport. Maybe more of us should see the real cruelty and perhaps we too might react like Senator Byrd

Vicious And Cruel

Vick is slick and very quick

Involved now in something really sick

Caught with pit-bulls reared to fight

In cages they were found locked up tight

Outraged by the news when he heard

Ugly and Barbaric described Senator Byrd

Should be imprisoned, placed behind bars

And lose all the perks of the football stars

Number 7 he wears on the football jersey

Displaced soon by a new one in the penitentiary

Could be the new trophy from his ruthless crime

Raising, fighting, electrocuting dogs all this time

US Nike dropped their Million dollars contract

Every other sponsorship might soon be taken back

Lifestyles may vary but some things stay the same

Dog fighting at any level is a vicious and cruel game
