David's Shameless Dance

People have used this story of David Dancing in the streets naked as justification of them reveling in the streets.  This dance was a salute the Lord of Hosts and reflected the release of total inhibition and surrender to Almighty God. A similar surrendering to the end of a crop which you had no real participation in, is scarcely a comparison

David’s Shameless Dance

David gathered together all the men

All 30 thousand that were chosen

Victoriously he returned with God’s Ark

Installed it upon its new resting cart

Delightful music they then played

Sounds from harps and cornets were made

So as to stabilize the Art that shook

He reached out, Uzzah and the ark he took

Angered by his error, God did smite

Mortal blow which to David wasn’t right

Enraged by this David went away

Left the Ark by Obededom, there to stay

Each day he got blessings, these 3 months past

So David went back to get God’s Ark fast

Sacrificed oxen after every sixth pace

Dance scantily in the street to Michal’s disgrace

And the people were dealt cake and wine

Now they went home leaving David behind

Criticizing it, Michal Saul’s daughter did say

Eyes of handmaids stared upon our naked King today
