Rules of Engagement

This story burns at my very core. How can the army have orders not to interfere with civilian matters yet involve civilians in their cover and care. Why are so many people dying in wars that they have no roles in? Why do we have to fight wars and why do they have rules for how we must kill each other.

I am not insensitive but it seems to me that the deaths in battle brought about by gassing were more merciful than the bombing that are occurring daily..

Rules of Engagement

Regiment commander decided to leave him there

US soldier was injured and needed some care

Little girl from Afghanistan was exceptionally kind

Embalmed his every wound that she did find

She was only eleven but had a big heart

On her he depended right from the start

For food, warmth and cover and his security

Expected her to carry this out with great secrecy

Now he got well and left with plans to go back

Got there to find her village was under attack

A penalty she paid for her charity

Gone terribly wrong at the hands of the Afghani

Everything happened before the soldiers eyes

Making an effort to save her would mean his comrades demise

Eleven years old, raped and shot in the head

Now laid in the streets naked and dead

This tragedy led to his mental break down

And like the girl he was shot in his home town
