Flying High
I caught the Sunday Show on Intra-Island Airline Fares (Flying High) and developed a new take. Why are we so concern with supporting the airline industries who are obviously burning millions in valuable energy resources.
Maybe the millions would be better spent in developing Fast Ferries or Telephone and Video conferencing or some other means of connecting with the region without splurging and wasting energy resources. Maybe the Governments should take the initiatives to prevent CEOs from the frequent trips to the island for weekly and monthly meetings if they truly want to promote a Green Economy.
How come so many countries are able to carryout regular transatlantic meetings without these trips. Big businesses in the USA are in constant contact with State branches and have even greater miles to overcome. We have been using conferencing between our Universities for sometime now, and I introduced webcams to the Bajan public at BMEX 1997, where then is the progress now a decade after.
Why are we Flying High living this extravagant lifestyle and who is really paying for our thoughtless lavishness?
