Crossing The Floor

Today a lady called Brass Tacks and asked what she thought was rhetorical, What is wrong with the former Opposition Leader crossing the floor?". It seems she is as absent of integrity as the offender.

When political figures can switch sides as though they are at moot practice in some community drama society then people will suffer. Supporters soon become confuse about the validity of all contributions not only of the individual’s but also of those of the party he represents.

I’m submitting the suggestion that it be written into law that party member desirous of crossing the floor be restricted from carrying out any political activity for a complete term of office of the next elected government. In this way such offenders will have minimal effect on the electorate. You think this is draconian? Maybe, but the existing arrangement is almost treasonous.

Crossing The Floor

Compromising party and his own integrity

Running now for the rival political party.

Opposition voters elected him in

So who is he now representing?

Standing up there at the new podium

I can’t bear seeing him, my body goes numb

No more talk about Jaws or mount Stinkaroo

Gems now seems to have died off too

The politicians are playing hop scotch with we

Having gained our votes they joining the other party

Enjoying freedom’s without any fear

Fooling the people, pretending to care

Laws should be changed now that we know

Our elected individuals may only be putting on show

Ought to ensure a politician like him quits

Rest for a term before returning to politics
