Mind Over Matter

Mind Over Matter

I got word that my niece was ill and needed to be rushed to the hospital. I wonder why rush, you go to the hospital and then you wait in line for over 10 hours, some people even longer. Is the rush only to secure your place in line? If it is then maybe the line should start from the time they recorded your emergency. Maybe then it would justify the ambulance spending 15 minutes at here home collecting information. I wrote this poem as I waited reflecting on my own illness.

Maybe you’ll find this a useful tip

I’ve taken a saying and made a flip

No pain no gain and mind over matter

Don’t even touch what I now capture

Our lives are made up of mind, body and soul

Vying for supremacy in young and old

Exercise strengthens the body but not the mind

Righteousness nourishes the soul and now I find

Mind speaks to soul and body too

A healthy soul tells the mind what the body should do

Told that in weakness God’s strength is made perfect

Then the weaker the body the stronger the spirit

Enriching your life by nourishing your soul

Reaps a mind and a body as pure as gold
