The Pastor's Angel

I received a forward in my e-mail from an old school friend. She was right, I did like the forward. I make it a habit not to read forwards and the good sometimes gets lost in the bath water. The testimony of the old lady was compelling enough to inspire this brief poem. It will remind me of the testimony and now I can share it

The Pastor's Angel

The testimony of the old lady touched my heart,

Her life seemed hopeless and she chose to depart.

Earlier that stormy day a little boy did entreat,

Pastor Dad to permit him to go alone on the street.

Alone he was passing out tracts while it was raining,

Soaked now to the bone at her door he was ringing.

The door went unanswered but he wouldn’t despair,

Our old lady loosened the noose and descended the chair.

Ringing persistently had brought her to the door,

Suicide attempt would be no more.

An angel had delivered God’s message today,

No rain or Pastor Dad could get in its way.

God’s word made her changed her destiny,

Entered church and delivered her testimony.

Let her life and this little angel be our cue,

Our simplest actions can have consequences too.
