For all who mothered

I celebrate Mother’s day with all you mothers and would be mothers. I make special note of the many ladies out there who, although they may not have given birth to their own child, have fostered care or trained other people’s kids.

I remember the many childless teachers who functioned like mothers to so many children. Mothers like these play an enormous role in the development of our society and I am very grateful to them.

A mother may in my opinion take on many faces and many roles. I do not want to reduce the importance of the maternal mothers. The miracle of childbirth takes quite a toll on these ladies and stretches over a 9 month period, at the end of which is unforeseen pain.

Someone brought us into the world in this way and if for that alone are deserving of great praise. Those maternal mothers who demonstrated love even when we were at our worst are even more deserving of our special thanks. I tried to write a general thank you for all mothers because I think that mothers of all types are very special and should not be exempt from this great cheer, so to all you ladies, I salute you on Mother’s Day.

I want to send a special wish for all those ladies that have been a part of my life from my school friends to my working colleagues at Brydens and Starcom and my friends all along the way. If I haven’t said it before to any of you please know now how much I’ve always appreciate your contribution in my life. Just a smile from you helped make the difficult roads so much easier. A Special Mother’s Day to all of you!

How should we celebrate this important Day?

A card, a gift or in your traditional way?

Putting aside differences of individuality,

Placing emphasis only on our mutuality?

You have in some way benefited from a mother

Maybe not your maternal but from some other

Or you may have experienced the miracle of child birth

Trained up a child to a better worth

How ever we measure we’ll have to agree

Everyone in some way benefited from a mommy

Reach out with me and celebrate

Send thanks; let others know what you appreciate

Development and contributions of love and charity

Are but a few of their roles in society

You’ve played your part and in my humble way

I want to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day!
