This proved to be a more controversial topic that one would have imagined. Who would believe that it would be debatable.. I surely didn’t and then I heard the absurd submission that according to the laws of Barbados a husband cannot be charged for sexually violating his wife. Note, I didn’t say rape since by definition this alone contradicts this so call law.

What stupid law protects a woman from being physically abused and therefore holds a husband liable from slapping his wife but accepts rape as the woman satisfying her wifely duties according to the marriage vows. Wow! I guess the wife was demonstrated her "honour and obey" to the letter.

When ever the calling of inspiration comes I usually pen a poem, nothing superb, just inspirational. It normally take the length of time to type it, usually 10 minutes, so you know its no master piece, just some collected thoughts. Please see my comments down the spine of the poem. I put the kids to bed

Turned off the lights and rest my head

Sex was the last thing on my mind

And then someone grabbed me from behind

Gagged my mouth that I wouldn’t scream

Such horror I wish was part of a bad dream

How devastated I was when I recognized

A familiar face glared me straight in the eyes

My rapist was my husband who still had a key

Enforced separation didn’t stop him violating me.
