So you opened your gift and it was a fresh cold

Oh how things change when you’re growing old

Grey hairs appear and soon wrinkled skin

Ringed eyes darken and it creases when you grin

Every effort is made as you ring in this new era

A bit of cream on your body and black hair mascara

Time has changed us, we are no longer young

This is what they tell us but we know they are wrong

Our bodies don’t show what we know inside

Because we know better, we chose to hide

Every little indicator that may misrepresent

A life that was rewarding but always well spent

Lord knows you’ve lived a life that’s pure

I’ve been there all the way and so I’m sure
